    FDA Plans Salt Limits

I am not, in any way, a fan of government regulation. So, I’m not saying I support this. But I am saying that I don’t think nearly enough Americans realize what’s in the food we eat. And it doesn’t help any that a food we have previously eaten can be changed without truly alerting the consumer to those changes.

Prepackaged food and restaurants often use salt, MSG, PHSO, HFCS, and other things to hide subpar ingredients. I’ve tried to find a smoked sausage/polish sausage sold commonly in grocery stores that doesn’t have MSG in it. No luck. It’s only just recently that you can find major label sodas without HFCS in the US.

But I’m not against pre-packaged foods, per se. I think companies should be able to sell whatever they want. But this stresses the importance of eating personally prepared locally grown foods and only deviating from that in limited quantities and with companies you can trust.
