A almost daily update of interesting things found as I walk the web. |
Even more fuel for the “why do we wear sunscreen?” arguments.
In my opinion, unless it’s clearly failing at it’s job, the best answer is always the one that has kept our species on this planet for 40,000 to 500,000 years, depending on how you look at it.
“Android 2.2 also features a new cloud-to-device messaging API that Google called “much more than a push notification service designed to make up for a lack of basic features like multitasking.”
This is just what I was dreaming up when I started to consider how to enable “multi-tasking” without allowing multiple poorly written apps running simultaneously to bring a mobile phone to its knees.
… or… how I learned to love the Android. … or the little Android that could.
In the new Internet age, the cloud is king. Google embraces the cloud with openness *AND* compatibility, two things Apple has always lacked.

I can’t wait for Jesus to come back so that I can take him around and show him all we’ve accomplished since he’s been gone.
‘Jesus, this is a Butterfinger.
And this is a shredded Butterfinger in ice cream. We call it a Blizzard.”
"My Brother in Law, Mike Thomas.
so I ate ear plugs alive with my throat
hoping they’d get lodged deep enough inside the empty spots
that I wouldn’t have to hear you leaving
so I wouldn’t have to listen to my heart keep saying
…
and I know it left me lookin’ like a knife fight, lady
yeah you know it left me feelin’ like a shotgun shell
you know I know I mighta gone and lost my breath
but I wanna show ya how I found my breath
to death
it was buried under all the wind instruments
hidden in your castanets
goddamn
if ya ever wanna know how it felt when ya left
yeah if you ever wanna come inside
just knock on the spot
where I finally pressed STOP
"
Is Chrome faster than a Potato Gun? Faster than Sound? Faster than … LIGHTNING?!
From the first moment that consumers realized that not all food at the grocery store was created equally, food producers have used fancy packaging, slogans, and logos to help grab the attention of would-be buyers.
The FDA is now seeking to improve this labeling in an effort to produce a more educated consumer. While this is certainly welcome, in the end, it almost makes as much sense to have no regulation over packaging whatsoever. No matter what the FDA does to labels, food producers will find ways around it.
The only real chance we have is to foster brand awareness, perform extensive product research, join trusted review circles, and support local foods in their raw state prepared at home.

It snowed heavily yesterday. Cars are buried. Trees are ice sculpture. The air glistens.
Weather like this reminds me that happiness isn’t...
The great thing about holidays…afternoon beer.
